A rockzene legendás alakja, Ace Frehley, a Kiss ikonikus „Space Ace” figurája 74 éves korában meghalt – erősítette meg családja. A zenész halála a rocktörténelem egyik meghatározó korszakának végét jelenti.

Ace Frehley, polgári nevén Paul Daniel Frehley, 1973-ban alapította a Kiss-t Paul Stanleyvel, Gene Simmons-szal és Peter Criss-szel New Yorkban. A zenekar látványos színpadi show-i, jellegzetes arcfestése és pirotechnikája révén vált világhírűvé, és minden idők egyik legsikeresebb rockbandájává nőtte ki magát.
Frehley a zenekarban „The Spaceman” vagy „Space Ace” néven vált ismertté, és a Kiss meghatározó korszakának egyik kulcsfigurája volt. A zenészt 2014-ben a banda többi tagjával együtt beiktatták a Rock and Roll Hírességek Csarnokába.
A gitáros az elmúlt hónapokban egészségügyi problémákkal küzdött, emiatt lemondta 2025-ös turnéjának hátralévő állomásait. Halála néhány héttel e bejelentés után következett be.
Frehley 1982-ben először elhagyta a zenekart, majd 1996-ban visszatért a Kiss legendás visszatérő turnéjára, de 2002-ben ismét távozott. Szólókarrierje során Frehley’s Comet nevű zenekarával és több önálló albummal is sikert aratott. Utolsó lemeze, a 10,000 Volts 2024-ben jelent meg.

Megdöbbentett minket Ace Frehley halálhíre. Ő egy pótolhatatlan, nélkülözhetetlen rockkatona volt a zenekar legfontosabb, formáló éveiben és történetében. Mindig is a Kiss örökségének része marad.
Peter Criss is búcsúzott a legendás zenésztől
Megtört szívvel és mély, mély szomorúsággal tudatom, hogy testvérem, Ace Frehley elhunyt. Békésen halt meg, szerettei körében. Feleségemmel együtt ott voltunk vele a végén. A KISS alapító tagjaként és szólókarrierje során Ace emberek millióinak szívét érintette meg és befolyásolta. Öröksége örökké élni fog a zene világában és a Kiss Army szívében.
Frehley New York Brooklyn városnegyedében született. 13 évesen karácsonyra elektromos gitárt kapott a szüleitől, ettől kezdve szenvedélyesen, autodidakta módon tanult zenélni. A középiskolában ragadt rá az „Ace” („Ász”) becenév, ami állítólag a lányok körében aratott nagy sikereire utalt.
A középiskola elvégzése után különböző munkakörökben, például taxisofőrként dolgozott. 1972 végén újsághirdetés révén jelentkezett a Kiss zenekarba, melynek ekkor már tagja volt Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons és Peter Criss.
