A szerzőnek a díjat látnoki erejű életművéért ítélték oda, amely az apokaliptikus terror közepette megerősíti a művészet erejét - mondta el Mats Malm, a Svéd Akadémia titkára, aki beszámolt arról is, hogy a bejelentés előtt sikerült telefonon elérnie az éppen Frankfurtban tartózkodó Krasznahorkai Lászlót.
Krasznahorkai László a Kafkától Thomas Bernhardig nyúló, az abszurdizmus és a groteszk túlzás által jellemzett közép-európai hagyomány nagyszerű epikus írója. De több is rejlik benne: keleti hatások is megmutatkoznak műveiben, amelyek hangvétele szemlélődőbb, finoman hangolt - méltatta közleményében a Svéd Akadémia.
388 millió forintnyi összeg jár a Nobel-díjjal
A 71 éves magyar író a díjjal 11 millió svéd koronát (388 millió forintnyi összeget) kap. A díjat hagyományosan december 10-én, az elismerést alapító Alfred Nobel halálának évfordulóján adják át.
A Trabant alapítója, a Balaton zenekar frontembere szerint hosszú lenne felsorolni, mi mindentől különleges Krasznahorkai művészete, de fontos kiemelni, hogy

Magyar vagy magyar származású Nobel-díjasok közül irodalmi Nobel-díjat 2002-ben Kertész Imre vehetett át korábban.
