pelting wattles at poor Maggy

There were passengers from Limerick
and passengers from Nenagh,
the boys from Connemara
and the Clare unmarried maidens,
and the people from Cork city
who were loyal, true and faithful,
that brought home Fenian prisoners
from dying in foreign nations.

It’s there you’ll see the fiddlers
and pipers competing,
the nimble-footed dancers
and they tripping on the daisies,
and others crying „Cigars and lights
and bills of all the races
with the colours of the jockeys
and the prize and horses’ ages”.

It’s there you’d see the jockeys
and they mounted so stately,
the pinks, the blues, the Irisher green,
the emblem of our nation.
When the bell was rung for starting
all the horses seemed impatient,
I thought they’d never stood on ground,
their speed was so amazing.

There was half half a million people
there of all denominations,
the Chatolic, the Protestant,
the Jew and Presbyterian.
There was yet no animosity,

but sport and hospitality
inducing fresh acquaintance.

Idén is két napon át tart a Road Movie Live, a Szent István Nap rendezvénysorozat könnyűzenei programja. Augusztus 19-20-án a Műegyetem rakparton hat előadó ad ingyenes koncertet, köztük Ajsa Luna, az Irie Maffia, a Hooligans és a Road.
A program a Road Movie kezdeményezésre épül
Ennek keretében a legnépszerűbb hazai zenekarok és előadók mesélték el kötődésüket Magyarországhoz és a határon túli területekhez, régiókhoz, utcákhoz, terekhez, városokhoz. Sokan megzenésítették személyes történetüket, és az akkor született számok ma is a koncertprogramjaik részét képezik.
Színpadon a Queen-életmű
Augusztus 19-én a programot a Don't Stop the Queen tribute zenekar indítja, amely a Queen életművét viszi színpadra, vegyesen válogatva slágerekből és közkedvelt, de a rádiókban ritkábban játszott számokból.
Hooligans és Irie Maffia koncert is lesz
Őket az elmúlt harminc évben számos slágerrel jelentkező Hooligans követi, majd az este zárásaként az idén húsz éve aktív, tizenegy tagú, zenei sokszínűségéről ismert Irie Maffia lép fel, amely magyar, angol, és gyakran a két nyelvet ötvöző számaival műfajok széles skáláját járja be.
Az augusztus 20-i tűzijáték előtt a fiatal énekes-dalszerző, Ajsa Luna ad műsort, majd az újpesti rapper, Curtis lép színpadra. Az est fő fellépője az ugyancsak nagymúltú rockzenekar, a Road lesz.
