Életének 84. évében elhunyt Tamás László, az Echo együttes egyik alapítója, dobosa és dalszövegírója.
Tamás Lászlót augusztus 9-én, szombaton érte a halál. Temetéséről később intézkednek.
Tamás László 1941-ben Nagykanizsán született, ahol már gimnazista korában elkezdte zenei karrierjét. Az Echo együttest 1962 elején a gépészmérnöki egyetemi karon tanuló hallgatótársaival, Markó Józseffel és Szilvássy Zsolttal együtt alapította. Kezdetben kizárólag zenekari számokat játszottak, majd Pósa Ernő, később Varannai István is csatlakozott a zenekarhoz énekesként.
Az Echo együttes igazán sikeres felállása 1966-ban jött létre, ekkor született meg a legtöbb Echo-dal, amelyekben Varannai István zeneszerzőként, Tamás László szövegíróként működött közre.
Az Echo az egyetemi Gépészklub mellett rendszeresen fellépett a Kapás utcai Táncklubban, valamint az Országház étteremben.
Legismertebb számuk a Gondolsz-e majd rám?, amelynek szövegét Tamás László, zenéjét Varannai István írta. A Hanglemezgyár 1967 őszén adta ki a dalt, amely szinte azonnal a slágerlisták élére került és idővel igazi örökzölddé vált Magyarországon és a környező országokban egyaránt.
Az együttes romániai vendégszereplésén a román hanglemezgyár is felvett és kiadott egy négyszámos kislemezt, amelyen szintén szerepelt a Gondolsz-e majd rám? című szám.
Tamás László életének nagy szenvedélye a zene volt, amely mellett sikeres gépészmérnöki karriert is befutott.
