Flea, a Red Hot Chili Peppers legendás basszusgitárosa, hosszú szólócsendet követően jelentkezik új anyaggal.
Az A Plea-vel, az első Flea-szólódal 2012 óta, ma vált elérhetővé, egyben megjelent hozzá egy provokatívan kortárs és koncepcionálisan gazdag klip is, amelyet Clara Balzary rendezett.
A dalban Flea visszatér első hangszeréhez, a trombitához, miközben basszusgitáron és éneken is hallható.
Az új anyag elkészítéséhez Flea modern jazz- és kísérleti zene világsztárokat gyűjtött maga köré
Vele zenél Anna Butterss, Jeff Parker, Deantoni Parks, Mauro Refosco, Rickey Washington és Vikram Devasthali. Chris Warren vokálosként csatlakozott és a dal producere, Josh Johnson emellett alt szaxofonon is közreműködik.
Az A Plea üzenete a szeretet, az összetartás és az emberi kapcsolatok fontosságát hangsúlyozza.
A dal szövege a világ megosztottságát tükrözi
„Vágyakozás egy túlvilági hely után, egy szeretetteljes helyre, ahol kifejezhetem a véleményem és önmagam lehetek. Mindig csak próbálok önmagam lenni.
Nem érdekel a politika aktusa. Szerintem van egy sokkal magasabb, transzcendensebb hely, ahol érdemi párbeszéd folyhat, ami valóban segítheti az emberiséget, és segíthet mindannyiunknak harmonikusan és produktívan élni, egészséges módon a világ számára. Van egy hely, ahol találkozunk, és az a szeretet.”
A videóklip, amelyet Clara Balzary rendezett, lenyűgöző, kortárs, kifejező és koncepcionális. A koreográfiát Sadie Wilking jegyzi, amely nem a megszokott táncnyelvet követi, hanem vizuálisan, operatőri bravúrokkal és érzelmileg is mélyen átélhető élményt teremt, tökéletesen kiegészítve a dal társadalmi és kulturális üzenetét.
Ez a dal előfutára Flea 2026-ban megjelenő, új szólóalbumának a Nonesuch Records gondozásában. A további részletek a jövő év elején várható.
