with their tickets at the station,
my eyes began to dazzle and
I’m going to see races.

It’s there you’ll see the gamblers,
the thimbles and the garters,
and the sporting Wheel of Fortune
with the four and twenty quarters.
There were others without scruple
pelting wattles at poor Maggy
and her father well contented
and he looking at his daughter.

There were passengers from Limerick
and passengers from Nenagh,
the boys from Connemara
and the Clare unmarried maidens,
and the people from Cork city
who were loyal, true and faithful,
that brought home Fenian prisoners
from dying in foreign nations.

It’s there you’ll see the fiddlers
and pipers competing,
the nimble-footed dancers
and they tripping on the daisies,
and others crying „Cigars and lights
and bills of all the races
with the colours of the jockeys
and the prize and horses’ ages”.

It’s there you’d see the jockeys
and they mounted so stately,
the pinks, the blues, the Irisher green,
the emblem of our nation.
When the bell was rung for starting
all the horses seemed impatient,
I thought they’d never stood on ground,
their speed was so amazing.

There was half half a million people
there of all denominations,
the Chatolic, the Protestant,
the Jew and Presbyterian.
There was yet no animosity,
no matter what persuasion,
but sport and hospitality
inducing fresh acquaintance.

Könnyed kikapcsolódást ígérő vígjátékokat, operetteket, komolyzenei koncerteket és a felnőtteknek is élvezetes gyermekműsorokat láthatnak a Tatai Szabadtéri Játékok nézői az Angolparkban július végétől augusztus közepéig.
A vígjátékok sorát július 4-én Robin Hawdon Szeretőből egy is sok című darabja nyitja a Hangjegy Színház előadásában, a főbb szerepekben Beleznay Endrével, Barabás Kiss Zoltánnal, Baronits Gáborral, Gregor Bernadett-tel, Suhajda Dániellel és Trokán Annával.
A Neoton Família slágereire írt musical, az Egy szép nyári nap kínál kikapcsolódást július 12-én, majd 14-én az Anconai szerelmesek című vígjáték lesz látható.
Néhány nappal később az Öreglányok című zenés komédiában a mai hetvenesek világába pillanthatnak bele a nézők négy, különböző kultúrájú "öreglány" szemüvegén keresztül, akik életük utolsó fejezetében a könnyedséget és a humor választják. A darabban Bede-Fazekas Annamária, Kocsis Judit, Kovács Kriszta és Sztárek Andrea lép színpadra.
A Kováts Péter hegedűművész alapította Mendelssohn Kamarazenekar ad koncertet július 23-án Tatán. A zenekar repertoárja a barokk zenétől a klasszikán át a XX. század legjelentősebb művein keresztül a kortárs zenéig terjed.
Augusztus 1-jén Marshall Karp Örömszülők című vígjátéka lesz látható, majd 15-én Neil Simon első jelentős sikere, a Mezítláb a parkban. Mrs. Banks alakításáért Kerekes Éva 2023-ban elnyerte a VIDOR Fesztivál Smeraldina-díját.
Augusztus 17-én az Anyatigrisek című musical tabuk nélkül, rengeteg humorral mutatja meg, valójában mit is jelent szülőnek lenni. A koncertszínházi előadásban híres musicalekből hangzanak fel zenei traktusok.
A programsorozat utolsó előadását augusztus 19-én tartják: a Carmina Burana kortárs balettfeldolgozását láthatja a közönség.
A gyermekműsorok között lesz Gryllus Vilmos-koncert, Vitéz László-bábjáték, az idei szezon vendége lesz Écsi Gyöngyi, valamint a Kicsi Gesztenye Klub is Tatára látogat.
A nézőtér mögötti füves rézsűs területen pokrócos helyeket biztosítanak azoknak, akik piknik kosárral érkezve szeretnék megtekinteni az előadásokat.
