Growing up fast in this life of mine,

Primary school was fine, everything was in

then my dad past away when I was the age of
nine
I had to find my way so I played football,
they said I got a scholarship so I took the

I was the age of thirteen but I still had to

Hosszan tartó betegség után, 41 évesen, péntek hajnalban elhunyt Tompos Kátya Jászai Mari- és Junior Prima díjas színművész, énekes - tudatta a család és Tompos Kátya menedzsmentje.
- "Mély fájdalommal tudatjuk veletek, hogy hosszan tartó betegség után Tompos Kátya Jászai Mari és Junior Prima-díjas színésznő, énekesnő ma hajnalban elhunyt, békésen távozott családja körében. Nagyon sokat jelentett számára, hogy betegsége hírére az ország egy emberként mozdult meg és fejezte ki támogatását valamilyen formában, ez a szeretet erőt adott neki és reménnyel töltötte ki utolsó heteit" - írták.
Tompos Kátya 1983. március 13-án született Budapesten. Édesanyja orosz származású. Gimnazista korában néhány évig Földessy Margit stúdiójába járt. 2001 és 2005 között a Színház és Filmművészeti Egyetem operett-musical szakára járt. 2004-ben Edith Piaf Mylord című dalával megnyerte a színművészeti egyetem dalversenyét. Az egyetem elvégzése után 2005-2007-ben a József Attila Színház tagja volt, majd 2007-2008-ban a Bárka Színházban szerepelt. 2008 és 2018 között a Nemzeti Színház tagja volt. Országos ismeretségre tett szert a Vacka Rádió folytatásos mese hangjáték főszerepével.
Énekes szerepei is különösen figyelemreméltóak
Fellépett többek között Goran Bregoviccsal, a Budapest Klezmer Banddel, Hrutka Róberttel, valamint a Söndörgő zenekarral Indiában is. 2013 novemberében Keresztül Európán címmel jelent meg első szólólemeze, amely varázslatos zenei utazás Angliától Oroszországig, angol, francia, bolgár, magyar és orosz nyelven énekelt dalok.
Tompos Kátya több filmben is főszerepet játszott, látható volt a Valami Amerika 2-ben (2008), Poligamyban (2009), a Köntörfalakban (2010), Nőm, nejem, csajomban (2012), Coming outban (2013), Valami Amerika 3-ban (2018) vagy például a Most van most című filmben (2019).
Munkásságát 2005-ben Máthé Erzsi-díjjal ismerték el. 2007-ben a Bárka Színházban a legjobb színésznő közönségdíját nyerte el. 2009-ben Gundel Művészeti Díjjal, 2010-ben Junior Prima Díjjal tüntették ki. 2014-ben Jászai Mari-díjat kapott. 2019-ben átvehette a Vidor fesztivál legjobb női szereplőjének díját a Varsói melódia címszerepéért.
Tompos Kátya külföldi gyógykezelésének finanszírozására gyűjtést, jótékonysági aukciót, koncertet, gálaestet is szerveztek, az összegyűlt összeg sorsáról később intézkednek.
